Development Grant
Deadlines
Professional Development - March 19, 2012
Curricular Development for fall 2012 - February 27, 2012
Curricular Development for spring 2013 - October 1, 2012
Faculty development grants are intended to support funding for professional development and curriculum development. Please note that faculty members are eligible to receive one of each type of grant per year.
Note: Special attention will be paid to proposals aimed at diversifying the applicant's curriculum and/or professional practice. While all forms of diversity are critical to CCA, cultivating cultural diversity is one of the college's core concerns.
Grants are available to all classifications of CCA faculty. The maximum amount of funding available per person will be $4,000 for professional development and $3,000 for curricular development, although smaller amounts will be awarded as well.
This year, CCA has increased its funding for Faculty Development Grants to $80,000 with the generous support of the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation as well as additional funds from the CCA Office of the President. The funding will be divided as follows: $50,000 for professional development and $15,000 for each round of curricular development. Proposals funded by the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation are specifically for the development of Fine Arts professional practice.
-
Curriculum Development: Faculty is invited to apply for funds to support projects and/or travel that will enhance curriculum and enrich teaching and learning at CCA. Proposals will be judged on their educational merit to individual programs and to the college at large. Proposals supporting curricular initiatives such as Engage at CCA, EcoTap, and other interdisciplinary concerns are encouraged.
-
Professional Development: Faculty is invited to apply for funds to promote professional travel and development. This includes, for example, funds to travel to a professional conference to present one’s work, or funds to complete work for a scheduled exhibit or publication.
Eligibility
- Faculty must be scheduled to teach or on a college-awarded sabbatical in 2012–13 to be eligible to apply.
- Recipients of grants must be willing to serve on the Faculty Development Grant committee in the future.
- Priority will be given to faculty who have not received a faculty development grant in the last two years.
Application Instructions
The Faculty Development Grant application must be fully completed and submitted with a complete résumé (which includes professional accomplishments as well as employment history and service to the college). Please note that a letter of support from a program chair or director must be submitted at the same time as the grant application.
