Pedagogy Workshops

The Faculty Pedagogy Workshop Series is organized by the Academic Cabinet. With two workshops per semester, the series is designed to be an informal opportunity for faculty to come together to discuss the art of teaching. Deans' Colloquium

The Deans’ Colloquium is a new faculty development initiative. The goals of the Deans’ Colloquium are to foster a sense of community among faculty, staff, and students; to provide forums for the discussion of timely issues in culture, politics, and pedagogy; and to introduce new voices from outside the college. Each event will feature a brief, extemporaneous presentation by a visitor invited by one of the college’s academic deans to spark a discussion on a selected topic. This presentation will be followed by two to four responses from CCA faculty, staff, or students, after which a general conversation among all those in attendance will be moderated by the presiding dean. The colloquia will be open to all members of the CCA community.

Assessment Training

Assessment training was held on December 19th from 9 to 11 am in Ralls 202 on the Oakland campus. All Chairs including SF, H&S, and Grad Chairs were invited. The session focused on criteria and standards of program learning outcomes (PLOs), specifically rows 4 and 5 of the Program Learning Outcomes Assessment Matrix, which is page 9 of the Assessment Plan.

Assessment Training was led by Cyd Jenefsky, Professor in the School of Education and Liberal Arts and Director of the Office for Educational Effectiveness at JFK University. Ms. Jenefsky brings much experience, wisdom, and practical information to the processes and challenges of developing and implementing effective assessment strategies.
