On occasion the public relations team seeks to establish a media sponsor for a specific college event. How does media sponsorship work? A media sponsor might, for example, offer the college free advertising in exchange for promoting the sponsorship on our event materials, such as invitations, fliers, and signage.

Because such arrangements often involve contracts and promises of exclusivity, all media sponsorships, including the initial discussions thereof, must be handled by the publicity and media promotions team.

The publicity and promotions team works with the sponsor to ensure the college receives maximum benefits from the opportunity, as well as works with the sponsor to fulfill the agreement.
