Recommended-site tours (based on academic disciplines)
Below are several useful websites that provide quick access to a wide array of art venues and social entertainment. Search by proximity, affordability, art-specific events, or select your itinerary from a more comprehensive list.
Create an Itinerary
The SFArts.org is a comprehensive site that allows you to search for events in two ways: by calendar date (or range of dates) and by keyword. Select Learn How to Use this Site (upper right-hand corner), then select How to Search for Events to watch a quick tutorial to search by type of event, price, and neighborhood.
Visit Flavorpill.com for a quick-and-easy overview of current Bay Area cultural events (art, film, performing arts, music, and readings), including those that are free and open to the public. Search by “Today,” “This Weekend,” or “All Days.”
Another useful resource for combing through the Bay Area’s rich cultural highlights is SFStation.com. Here you can discover popular local entertainment by districts for clubs, bars, wine tasting, cafés and restaurants, shopping, and businesses. Search by favorite cuisine type or even popularity. Events, too, are categorized (theater, dance, museums, galleries, literary arts) for select interests.
