Collaborative Curriculum Design

Saturdays, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., February 7, March 7, March 28, plus a final session TBD by participants
4 sessions / $375 / CEU: 2, available through California State University East Bay
Prerequisites: Currently teaching at a school or community site and enrolled in or completed each AIE core course; or approval of instructor.
Participants share their classroom experiences with art and art integration, each focusing on his or her own point of inquiry or a particular pressing issue in his or her teaching practice.
Over three one-day sessions, they share the successes and challenges of their implementation techniques, using the Teaching for Understanding Framework, the Studio Thinking Framework, and Making Learning Visible. In a final two-hour session they share the work of the class with the larger community.
Participants learn protocols, tools, and frameworks that are useful for evaluating and deepening their practices. In addition to the final presentation, they are encouraged to share their visual documentation, research, and projects with their respective schools and organizations.
