Students are introduced to the Studio Thinking Framework, a research-based arts tool that can be used to develop arts and art-integrated curriculum.

Studio Thinking provides teachers with a language for describing what they intend to teach with the arts and what students actually learn when working with the arts. This language will help educators working with the arts deepen their practice and the assessment practices.

Participants in this class will experience a hands-on lesson created by using the Studio Thinking Framework and then will deconstruct their experience. They will learn how the tool was helpful in planning and they will reflect upon the language of the framework—how it was helpful to their targeting deep learning and providing clear criteria for assessment.

Participants will also be introduced to a variety of ways that teachers have used this tool to improve their practice.
