OAK 2108
Instructor: Jennifer Stuart
Thurs., 4:30–7 p.m.–3 p.m., January 17–April 10 (no class March 20)
12 sessions. $610. CEU: 3 available through Cal State East Bay. Prerequisites: none.

How can partnerships between educators, artists, schools, arts organizations and communities help in the development of young students into artists and scholars? What are the tools and strategies for meaningful collaborations?

By identifying resources in their own schools, organizations, and communities and looking at models of successful, existing partnerships participants will work together to create meaningful art integration projects for their students.

Participants learn:

  • how to incorporate community art practices into educational settings
  • how to create and maintain collaborations in which all participants are valued as equals
  • how to assess learning and projects in an ongoing manner
  • how to identify and utilize resources for realizing goals
  • how to make a plan, communicate effectively, and ensure that all participants are getting the most out of the collaboration

At the end of the course, students will have a binder of tools for planning and implementing collaborations, and a list of art resources in the Bay Area.
