Limited Resources & Recycled Materials: How to Include Art in Your Curriculum on a Limited Budget
OAK 409
Instructor: Alexandra Kulka
Saturdays, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., November 1 & 8
2 sessions. $210. CEU: 1 available through California State University East Bay. Prerequisites: none
Budget issues can seem overwhelming when it comes to teaching the arts. This workshop allows participants to explore the creative possibilities opened up by the introduction of “unconventional” arts resources and recycled materials in arts planning.
For centuries artists have used materials beyond charcoal and paint in their work. An examination of these artists' work provides inspiration and pushes participants to think in deep ways bout how to use these “new” materials.
Students encounter different sources for materials, investigate the works of professional artists who work with recycled and found materials, and design lessons for their classrooms.
