OAK 408

Monday & Wednesday, 4:30–7:30 p.m., March 9 & 11
2 sessions / $110 / CEU: 0.5, available through California State University East Bay
Prerequisites: none
Participants are introduced to the Studio Thinking Framework, a research-based tool that can be used to develop art- and art-integrated curricula. Studio Thinking provides teachers with a language for describing what they intend to teach using the arts, and what students actually learn when working with the arts.
Participants experience a hands-on lesson and then deconstruct the experience. They learn how the tool was helpful in planning, targeting deep learning, and providing clear criteria for assessment. Participants are also introduced to a variety of ways that teachers have used this tool to improve their practices.
