Masks and puppets are dynamic, culturally rich art forms, and they can be created quickly and easily from readily available classroom materials. Participants work with paper, tagboard, and cardboard to create masks, headdresses, shadow puppets, and rod puppets at various scales.
Participants explore how these artworks may be used to deepen students’ understanding of language arts, social studies, science, and even math. Participants leave with six or more finished projects and information on how to modify the projects for different age groups and time frames.
