Kari Marboe (Karl Marble), site research, 2011

  • Kari Marboe (2009)
Since graduating with a BFA in Ceramics in 2008, Kari Marboe has explored the world of art from a variety of angles. Currently an M.F.A. candidate at U.C. Berkeley, Marboe is working on A Lover’s Discourse, a project that uses a series of photographs to combine Roland Barthes’ book of the same title, text and imagery to decipher the nature of coupling/ uncoupling. The series demonstrates Marboe’s continuing interest in autobiography, which she explored during her first year at Berkeley with her work Karl Marble. She is currently the Curatorial Intern at Southern Exposure, a non-profit arts organization in San Francisco and is curating MFA Now, a show at Root Division gallery that surveys the work of MFA students in visual arts from six of the Bay Area programs.
