Engage: Graphic Production
This class is designed for community and fine arts majors interested in the fundamental principals, approaches, language and production of graphic design, as well as its role and application to investigating, communicating and/or addressing social, economic and diversity-related topics. From a process perspective, students will learn how to apply research methods, identify opportunities, define design problems, understand audiences, tactics for ideation, design iteration and refine final concepts. Production topics will guide students on how to flexibly and appropriately employ both analog methods, such as sketching or collage, and digital tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. As part of ENGAGE at CCA, the course will be partnered with a community organization or agency which well be announced closer to the start of the semester. The class will engage with the community partner through site visits, guest lectures and collaborative work sessions in order to assess and develop work, and to address the needs of the organization's team, programs and/or initiatives.
