COURSE DESCRIPTION

ARCHT540 BT: Architectural Detail

Through in depth studies of the performance, assembly and aesthetics of architectural details, students develop the ability to translate global design intent to the scale of their details. This course, employing a case study approach, takes advantage of the wealth of significant works of architecture under construction in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Students participate in field trips to offices and construction sites, review construction documents, and meet with project architects, engineers and construction managers in an effort to develop their knowledge and skills in the art of building.
