CERAM350 Combined Media: Clay & Steel This course will be conducted in a laboratory-inspired learning environment where individual research and experimentation will be used to investigate new ways to combine ceramics and metalworking. Students will be taught a basic proficiency in each medium including: welding, machining, metal fabrication and foundry, ceramic casting, building, glazing and firing. But they must also bring curiosity and a desire to try new things, take risks and follow unexpected developments. Controlled chaos, random chance, the scientific method and continual research will all be used to broaden the creative intersection between clay and steel. |
