DIVST300 Diversity Performance This class combines the discipline of a seminar with the rigors of studio practice, blending both writing and performance. Looking at performance as social commentary, as a way to shed insight on socio-economic and political issues that impact a community, students will be required to work closely with a local community and identify some of the more relevant/pressing issues that impact that community. In the classroom they will do writing exercises, hone interview skills, and practice various performance techniques. In addition, students will be required to go to two public performances, watch and critique various performers on videos, and read plays. At the end of the semester, students will be required to perform a 10-minute piece that highlights their community issue. |
