FINAR604 FAS: Painting Focus

This course will focus on contemporary painting practices and the critical debates within that field. A series of nationally recognized visiting artists, both established and emerging, will be invited to spend 1-3 weeks with the class, each presenting their work and offering studio critiques to seminar students. Through class conversations, assigned readings, studio critiques, written assignments, and potential fieldtrips, students will be encouraged to position their own work within a wider critical, creative and curatorial context.
