COURSE DESCRIPTION

FINAR660 Graduate Studio Practice

Studio Practice is a course of flexible, individualized study with the faculty. The form of this study takes place in the student's studio. The studio visit is a classic form of relationships between artists, curators, and critics. During the studio visit, information, attitudes, and advice are exchanged. It is the student's opportunity to gather disparate opinions and outlooks. First semester, 3 units are taken under the discipline's advisement from one faculty member. Second semester, with advice from the first semester contact, a total of two to six faculty members are chosen for a total of 6 units. During the fourth semester, the student may choose up to three faculty for a total of 6 units. Finally, during the fifth semester, the student uses 6 units of Studio Practice to remain in contact with members of the student's advisory committee during Thesis Project. Unit equivalent faculty contact: 1 unit equals 3 hours of individual contact.
