COURSE DESCRIPTION

INDUS212 Design Methods & Research

In this class you will learn the philosophy behind what we design in order to make more informed and inspired design decisions. You will be given the hands-on tools and tactics used in the design world to create successful products, and you will gain valuable research skills that will allow you do "up front discovery" about different cultures, varied perspectives, and user groups that directly affect designs and the design process. Observation skills, research documentation, how to run a study, analysis of data, interpreting the results, and applying the results to your designs are all important factors in learning how people actually use products. In addition to the research, you will learn how to communicate your results with storytelling and qualified research insights.
