COURSE DESCRIPTION

INTER316 Tools & Technology 3

This course advances the study of 2D, 3D, and 4D drawing methodologies as conceptual approaches to the representation of space. Not only are students exposed to the rich history of contemporary drawing techniques, they also have an opportunity to explore a wide variety of media addressing both traditional and digital imaging concerns. Particular emphasis is given to the creative inquiry of hyrid methods of representation. Students construct a variety of perspectives, including 3D perception and linear perspective structures, and render drawings quickly and effectively. Throughout the course, students improve their technical drawing skills and their competency to simulate 3D spatial relations on a 2D plane. Additionally, students are encourages to explore a number of software programs such as Form Z, Vectorworks, Sketch-up, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Students move through this class by developing an in-depth understanding and expertise of a variety of representation skills.
