COURSE DESCRIPTION

METAL208 Specialty Course: Holloware

Smithing techniques, the most versatile metals processes in ancient and modern times, combine the greatest variety of visual form, scale, and function. This special course will focus on the process of forging (shaping linear elements), raising (creating three-dimensional forms from sheet), and anticlastic forming (creating linear, eccentric hollow forms). Design and application for jewelry, sculpture, and functional objects will be emphasized. Additional materials fee will be charged.
