SOCSC200 Race & Ethnicity/Amer Culture How and why do racial and ethnic inequality persist in our culture today? Why are so many Americans unaware of these issues? This class will focus on the social construction of race and ethnicity, theories of racism and privilege as linked to power, civil rights, housing, education and work. It seeks to document the history of racial inequality in the United States, and to provide students with the tools to examine information and opinions regarding race and ethnicity more critically. |
