TEXTL412 Adv Fiber Sculp:Spec Projects

This course requires students to conceive, develop and bring to conclusion a single project over the course of the semester. Students will design their projects based on individual conceptual interests, research relevant materials, submit proposals, thoughtfully consider material and site and bring their projects to completion through the fifteen weeks of the term. Some areas of interest might include working in the natural or urban environment, large-scale installation, wearable art, interactive engagement with specific constituencies, or a series of interrelated, small-scale works. The class will support the realization of these special projects through rigorous work-in-progress critiques, readings, and field trips. This unusual course affords students the opportunity to think broadly, follow personal lines of aesthetic inquiry and build the technical and conceptual skills to bring those ideas to fruition.
