MARCH640 BT: Integrated Proj Delivery This 3 credit seminar course will explore emerging concepts of project management and project delivery in the architecture and construction industry. Using the joint CCA-SCU Solar Decathlon Project as the central case study project, seminar members will participate in the project realization from the point of view of scheduling, budgeting, communication, and project management. Through readings, presentations, and field trips, the students will become familiar with the structures and vocabularies of Integrated Project Delivery and Building Information Modeling, and then through role playing and active involvement in the Solar Decathlon project will gain practical experience with implementing these concepts. There are no specific prerequisites, and no previous participation in the Solar Decathlon project is required, but it is expected that class members will actively engage as part of the broader student team that is bringing the project to reality. The course would be an appropriate companion class for students in the Solar Decathlon studio, and also provides an opportunity for students in other studio courses to become involved in other ways. |
