FASHN320 Introduction to Knitwear
This class will introduce students to knitwear design on single bed machines. Students will learn the appropriate yarns for both standard gauge and chunky gauge knitting machines as well as basic knit stitches. Students will also develop a strong sense of knit fabric qualities and how the choice of yarns, tension and stitch affect those qualities. Students will learn how to use the machines and will become adept in their handling of the knit tools. As the semester progresses, more advanced stitching techniques will be taught. Fashion designs for knits will be an integral part of each project throughout the class. |
