DIVSM300 "Mexico: Music, Art & Culture"
FALL 2012

Diversity Studies Seminars are in-depth experiences in the study of multiculturalism and cultural diversity in American society and in societies that have impacted American society. Courses expose students to and inform students about the contributions of African Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans and Latinos to American culture, history, and society.

This class will cover the history of Mexican art from Pre-Columbian times to the present. The class will emphasize the parallels between Mexican art and its history, its political movements, national identity and the influence of American and European cultures. The class will make comparisons between the visual arts, film, architecture, music and literature.
