Photoshop Basics

Adobe Photoshop, which enables the user to manipulate photographic images, has become an important tool for artists and designers. The first half of this one-day workshop focuses on learning Photoshop’s basic tools and concepts.

The second half of the day is committed to exploring the colorizing images tools. Through hands-on exercises, Students learn how to combine and manipulate images through hands-on exercises how to combine and manipulate images.

Optional: participants may bring a blank CD to class for copying exercises and the provided help reference. One student per Macintosh computer. .

InDesign Basics

Adobe InDesign is becoming the standard for publishing and page layout because of its ease of learning and seamless integration with other Adobe programs. Following a discussion of the program and an overview of the basic elements, students explore the tools of this software through hands-on exercises.

Basic features covered: tools, creating a document, page sizes, managing type and text flow, paragraph formatting, and handling pictures.

Optional: participants may bring a blank CD to class for copying exercises and the provided help reference. One student per Macintosh computer.

Illustrator Basics

1 session. $130. Noncredit. Prerequisite: basic computer skills (Mac or PC)

Adobe Illustrator excels as art production and illustration software. The program includes powerful electronic tools that are similar to the traditional design tools used to create illustrations. In this hands-on workshop, students learn the basics of an object-oriented PostScript drawing program. By working through the functions of each tool in the tool palette, students learn how to create and paint basic shapes, as well as how to draw lines. The day includes an overview of how to work with type and the layering elements of an illustration.
