Alexis Ingle Mahrus began her career in commercial art. Some of her illustration clients: Jane Magazine, Electronic Arts, APL Limited, Marin Theatre Company, Storefront Political Media, SF Bay Guardian, Peet's Coffee and Tea, Trips Magazine, SF Maritime National Historical Park, Farm Design, California Wild magazine, Pocket Opera, Rossie/Davis Advertising, and Center Repertory Co. of Walnut Creek.
In the last ten years her work has focused on murals, drawing from her early studies, and apprenticeship with the Bay Area trompe l'oeil muralist John Pugh.
Her latest large commission, Geronimo, a "painting within a painting," which imagines the New Mexico landscape where Geronimo, the Native American leader, fought many battles.
Mahrus is currently working on a few smaller murals in her studio.
