
John Mattos recieved his first award for graphic excellence in
1973.He has since recieved over 150 awards, including Gold Medals
from the New York Art Directors Club, and The New York Society of Illustrators.
His “Rocketeer” poster was selected as one of the 100 best Movie Posters of all time
by the American Film Institute. He has Guest Lectured at Slade School, London
Brighton School of Art, UK, School of Visual Arts, New York, Syracuse University Masters of Illustration Program.

John lives on Telegraph Hill, and did the “Yes on B , Save Coit Tower” graphics that were part of the successful initiative
That was passed on last June’s ballot, and has done Pro Bono neighborhood work including a Logo for Joe DiMaggio
Playground, the NorthBeach Merchants Association, and Logo for Garfield Elementary School.
