Nick Merz, cofounder and VP of Design at OQO Inc., has spent many years traveling the world getting his products and designs manufactured. Ever since his early career at Apple designing laptops, Nick has been deeply engaged in the user experience and the physical quality of computers—the environment where most of us spend our waking hours.

OQO computers and accessories have won numerous design awards, including the Japanese government’s G-Mark 2007, Popular Science magazine’s Best of CES 2007, LAPTOP Magazine’s Best of CES 2007, Gizmodo blog’s Best of CES 2007, the Microsoft Innovation Award 2007, Wired magazine's Best Mobile Computer award, Business 2.0 magazine’s Editor’s Choice (4 stars), and are permanently enshrined in the Guinness Book of World Records and the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.

Merz’s commitment to beautiful execution of designed objects has resulted in many rich relationships with toolers, machinists, molders, factory line workers, engineers, and scientists in many diverse countries.

Nick currently serves as senior lecturer in Industrial Design.
