FINAR-604
This course will generate a new experience for the students based more around the boundaries between the natural and human culture, the wild and the cultivated, the feral and the domesticated - the borderlands between these two worlds. The class would be a workshop model with several projects made by the students including tracking wild honeybees in the woods, along with several field trips to the Corps of Army Engineers Model of the Bay, the Delta Region, and the Underground Gardens in Fresno, extensive reading on these boundary territories. Andrei Tarkovsky's film Solaris will be among several films we will review. The history of the decoy in its many forms, cabinets of wonder and curiosity will all be explored in more depth.
