FINAR604 SRL: Contemporary Exhibition This Studio Research Lab will explore taking image based projects to the public through books and exhibitions. The first several meetings will include critique and meeting with Bay Area artists in their studios, as well as meeting with Bay Area curators and critics. We will also meet with publishers Jason Fulford of J&L Books and Paul Schiek of These Birds Walk publishing. The last several meetings will involve students pairing off for 2-person exhibitions (or book publishing projects) and each exhibition will have a guest critic including Julian Cox, Founding Curator of Photography for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and Chief Curator at the de Young, Darius Himes, founder of Radius Books and Assistant Director at Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco, and Lisa Sutcliffe, Assistant Curator of Photography at SFMOMA. |
