General course description
Drawing is a skill and a practice that is refined and incorporated in all art and design fields. This course is designed to increase competency in drawing through the development of sound observational skills. Working from nature, manufactured objects, and the human figure, students learn about space, proportions, structure, and personal expression. From daily project books to rendered studies, students continue to refine their skills to communicate what they see.

General course description
This course introduces skills and concepts of two-dimensional art and design. Students explore various approaches and mediums for creating in the picture plane. Two-dimensional concepts such as figure/ground, grouping principles, grid, symmetry, rhythm and pattern are covered. Whether making images for quick recognition or poetics, students develop a visual language for analyzing, organizing, and communicating their ideas.

General course description
This course introduces fundamental concepts of three-dimensional art and design through a series of assignments that deal with the organization of space and form using a variety of materials, processes, and tools.

Students investigate formal, functional, and conceptual issues while developing effective material choices, construction methods, craftsmanship, and safe studio working habits. Students consider issues such as sustainable materials and reuse, and how objects function in the world.

General course description
This course introduces students to the possibilities of working in time and space through the exploration of interactive and collaborative methodologies, digital tools, and a critical study of media culture.

Students are exposed to digital video, the Web as an interactive media, sound art, performance, and other practices and events occurring in time. With an emphasis on developing an interdisciplinary approach, students gauge their relationship to time, community, and technology in contemporary art practices.
