Part of a 300 hectare redevelopment of Madrid’s Chamartin railyards, the project proposes a series of large-scale programs that are germane to the creation of a new inter-regional center for Madrid, united under the roof of a singular architectural megaform. A 1,000 room hotel and retail center links the hub of Spain’s high-speed rail to international air travel via Barajas airport, while a large farmer’s market connects Madrid’s municipal markets directly to regional food production. Fragments of undeveloped land within the project site are consolidated into a continuous productive landscape linking Madrid’s northern periphery to the riparian corridors to its south.
