The physical manifestation of a unique partnership with a community college and a California State University system campus, the Joint-Use Academic Building will provide opportunities for City College of San Francisco to offer courses jointly with San Francisco State University allowing students to complete both the Associate and Bachelor degrees in Teacher Education, Child Development and Nursing and Community Health programs. The new facility will create an effective new model for collaboration and instruction where faculty from both SFSU and CCSF will be co-located, courses offered, and support services provided. Housed in 85,000 sf will be classrooms, specialized laboratories, offices, study space, and other academic functions as well as student development facilities such as computer labs, counseling, and career planning. The interaction of the City College students with students, professors, and researchers from San Francisco State University greatly facilitates the transfer rate and undergraduate completion for the community college students.
