Jens Hoffmann

Jens Hoffmann is the director of the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. From 2003–7 Hoffmann was the director of exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. He has curated over three dozen exhibitions internationally since 1997 and written more than 150 articles on art and curatorial practice for art magazines and museum publications over the last decade.

Jens also is a faculty member of the Curatorial Studies Program of Goldsmiths College, University of London, and a visiting professor at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. He currently is an adjunct curator at CAAM—Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and a guest curator at the Presentation House Gallery, Vancouver.

Jens is one of the curators of the 9th Lyon Biennial 2007 and together with Adriano Pedrosa, the curator of the second San Juan Triennial in 2009.

His most recent books include The Next Documenta Should be Curated by An Artist (Revolver 2004, Frankfurt) and Perform, coauthored with Joan Jonas (Thames & Hudson 2005, London). He recently wrote the forthcoming SHOW TIME (DuMont 2009 Cologne).
