Bill Wurz

Bill Wurz brings to the MBA in Design Strategy program two decades of experience in product development, design, and design strategy. He has been particularly effective in mentoring clients on various aspects of innovation, from qualitative research to ideation to rapid prototyping.

Currently Bill is a strategist with Stone Yamashita Partners in San Francisco guiding his clients through the transformations required to routinely innovate and seek greatness for their business and our world.

Bill has worked with a number of leading design firms in Silicon Valley, including IDEO, Jump Associates, and frog design, heading up strategic design projects in transportation, consumer electronics, financial services, and retail experience. He holds several patents and recently received an IDEA award for a research project he led with Medtronic, a medical device manufacturer.

Prior to his consulting career, Bill worked with Xerox on future office-product concepts. He also spent time in Milan, working with Sottsass Associati on a variety of furniture, lighting, and architecture products. In addition to his consulting, Bill has taught in the Industrial Design Program at California College of the Arts since 1993.

Bill often has the look of a deer caught in headlights, which he attributes to having spent too much time living in the future.
