Brian Conley, PhD, is a San Francisco-based artist. From radio performance to sculptural- and sound-based installations, Conley's artistic practice operates between the divide of science and art. Appearing as anatomical models or artifacts from an unspecified time in the future, Conley uses scientific research and political inquiry to construct new morphologies that humorously challenge our perceptions of humanity, nature, technology, and consciousness.
He has had projects in Bitstreams at the Whitney Museum, Statements at ArtBasel, and a commission from the ArtPace Foundation for Contemporary Art. He has had recent projects in Becoming Animal at MassMoca and Eight Americans at the Wanas Foundation in Sweden. He is founding coeditor with Sina Najafi of Cabinet Magazine, an international art and culture quarterly.
