Thom Faulders places equal emphasis on speculative research and applied practice. With an active interdisciplinary presence, projects range in scale from architecture and urban interventions to the design of environments and product prototypes. He pursues architecture as a real-time and responsive medium and explores dynamic systems to investigate contemporary design in an age of technological customization.
He has received numerous honors, including awards from the Possible Futures: Bienal Miami + Beach International Competition; Emerging Voices Award from Architectural League of New York; SFMOMA's Experimental Design Award; and American Institute of Architecture Awards (AIG).
Recent exhibitions include Safe: Design Takes on Risk at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Beyond Consumption at the International Lisbon Biennale; SFMOMA Experimental Design Awards Exhibition; and Global Tools: Design in the Age of Intensive Care Units at the Kunstlerhaus in Vienna.
