GRAPH312 Typography 4: Experimental Typography 4 is concerned with the interpretation of language and information in ways that explore experimentation and personal expression. It will be a process toward a more provocative form of visible language. At its core is an understanding of the difference between readability and legibility. A sense of freedom will be encouraged but serious care, critical judgment and visual sensitivity will be considered the highest priorities throughout the design process. Graphic design is now seen as a visual language. Its audience is approached as readers as well as viewers. Images are to be read and interpreted as well as seen; typography is to be seen as well as read. These are layers of meaning as well as layers of form. Corequisite: Graphic Design 4 |
