Jean Craig-Teerlink earned a BFA in graphic design from University of Illinois, Urabana-Champaign; completed post-baccalaureate coursework at Harvard University and Yale University; and received a Swiss National Diploma (MFA equivalent) in graphic design from the Basel School of Design.
Jean is principal of Craig-Teerlink Design, a graphic design studio in San Francisco. Craig-Teerlink's design projects range from nonprofit to commercial to experimental and artistic, and typically span multiple mediums. Her commercial work focuses on comprehensive brand and identity systems for local, national, and international clients, such as the Sierra Club, Actelion, and Sun Microsystems, yet also includes packaging, print collateral, book, and experience design.
Prior to founding her firm Jean was senior designer for Northeastern University Publications and NeXT Computer, Inc. She has consulted with several studios, including Clement Mok designs, Luxon CarrĂ , and Landor Associates.
Jean has been published and acknowledged by the American Institute of Graphic Art, Print Magazine, and Graphis. She most recently received a gold award in Graphis Logos 7 (February 2008) for her work with the Sierra Club.
Her visual research has been published in Visuelle Kommunication (Dietrich Reimer) and Drawing as Design Process (Niggli) and exhibited in Basel, Switerland. She has served on the graphic design faculty at Northeastern University in Boston, San Jose State University, and University of California, Santa Cruz.
Jean was appointed to CCA's Graphic Design faculty in 1997 and is currently an adjunct professor and assistant chair. She initiated and established the Makeshops, a series of hands-on workshops that supports the department's core curriculum and the student representatives, elected student advocates from each level of the program.
Jean studied at Harvard University, Yale University, and Basel School of Design.
