Wattis director Ralph Rugoff has written that the institute is "interested in showing art that is thoughtful, provocative, moving and amusing, and that provokes curiosity and wonder." As in the art that the Wattis exhibits, the cropped logotype allows the viewer a moment of discovery: we look, wonder, and decipher.
