I remember Pre-College being the first time I felt like there was a place I was meant to be. What an amazing concept that I could go somewhere and focus on the things I really enjoyed in an atmosphere with others who really enjoyed what they were doing.

The project that stands out the most was a 12 x 12-inch sculpture I made from over 2,000 Q-Tips. We were instructed to pick a word and describe it visually in a 12 x 12-inch volume, and I chose the word “hygiene.”

Pre-College is the experience that gave me confidence in my readiness to leave the great Midwest and try something new. I had always been a painter and liked to make things, but had never once thought about architecture or design.

Pre-College introduced me to the world of architecture and instilled in me the desire to push myself in a new direction.
