Applying

Applying for Housing

Include the following when completing your housing application:

  • All required materials for application to the program (listed above)
  • Pre-College housing application form
  • $100 housing deposit (refundable through May 8)

Applying for Scholarships

Include the following when completing your scholarship application:

  • All required materials for application to the program
  • A slide, photographic, or CD portfolio of your artwork (five to eight pieces, formatted no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches). No original artwork accepted. If you submit photographs, indicate whether they were printed commercially or by you. Video submissions are accepted for Digital Cinema applicants only. Creative Writing applicants should submit two to five pages of writing samples.
  • A half-page essay describing your artistic interests and goals, and specifically the reasons for your interest in CCA’s Pre-College Program
  • A copy of your family’s 2008 federal income tax return. Your family should also document any child support received (or paid) and any other money received that is not reported on the tax return. On an individual basis, where necessary, CCA may request further financial documentation. You will not be considered for scholarships if you do not include the 2008 tax return.
  • A written statement describing why the applicant needs financial assistance to attend the program. Preferably a parent or guardian should write this statement, although it may also be written by a high school counselor or art teacher.

All above items must be postmarked by March 20, 2009, for scholarship consideration.

Costs

Tuition for the 2009 Pre-College Program is $2,600. All necessary supplies ($300 approximate value) are included in this price. For students who choose to live in campus housing, the cost is $795 plus a $150 refundable damage deposit.

Refunds

Full tuition and housing refunds (deposit and balance, if submitted) will be issued to anyone who withdraws from the program on or before May 8, 2009, less a $75 nonrefundable application fee. No housing refunds will be issued after May 8. An 80 percent tuition refund will be issued to anyone who withdraws from the program on or before June 1, 2009, less a $75 nonrefundable application fee. No refunds will be issued after June 1.

Notification

Applicants who meet the March 20, 2009, priority deadline will be notified by April 24 of admission, housing, and scholarship decisions.

Housing applicants who reside in communities with access to public transportation to the college, or who have previously been housed in CCA’s Pre-College program, receive secondary consideration for housing. Housing notification will be mailed to these applicants beginning May 22.
