Designer Heidi Berg
Heidi came to CCA from a small town in central Utah, where she attended West Jordan High School. She majored in Graphic Design but discovered that she had a strong affinity for motion graphics.
After taking just two courses in the field, she was selected to participate in the highly competitive Reel Ideas Studio at the Cannes Film Festival in France, where she received an independent emerging motion graphics artist award in 2008.
After graduating from CCA Heidi interviewed in San Francisco, New York, London, and Los Angeles. She freelanced for Kyle Cooper’s studio, Prologue, and for fellow Sputnik alumna Lindsay Daniels until recently securing a position at Motion Theory as a 2D motion graphics designer and animator.
These days Heidi is working on character design and development for Google’s Project 10100, which has been featured on CNN.
“It’s funny to see my little characters running around,” she says. “Of course it’s not my signature style, but then again the client/art director does not always want my style. It’s been interesting to practice adaptability and flexibility while still trying to inform my work with a certain depth of concept and personal aesthetic. Having the opportunity to join Motion Theory has been amazing. I am learning so much and taking advantage of all they have to teach me.”
