Film Noir was a despondent, negative and violent Hollywood cycle produced after World War II. Theoretically, it can be "read" as being an expression of post-war despondency. Noir studies intersect with feminism, psychoanalysis, structuralism and cultural theory. In postmodern narratives, Noir has been the most influential of all historical film styles. A paper and oral report are expected.
