VISST-300
How has our understanding of cities been informed by imagery? This class will examine the conditions of contemporary globalization through the lens of the megacity, in particular its representation in film and photography. Los Angeles and Lagos, New York and Hong Kong, Berlin and Beirut - these cities, among others, will provide case studies with which to evaluate work by numerous contemporary photographers and filmmakers including Wim Wenders, Wong Kar-Wai, Gregory Crewdson, and Thomas Struth.
