WRLIT110 First Year Writer's Workshop Recommended for declared Writing & Literature majors and students considering the possibility. Goal is production and analysis of student creative writing, with focus on development of the writer's voice, critical stance, and new vocabulary for critical and creative expression. Readings of great works will serve as models for practice writing poetry, fiction, drama, and literary nonfiction. College-level editing and workshop skills will be taught. Students will also discover the contemporary Bay Area literary scene via author visits and trips to local readings and venues such as San Francisco's Intersection for the Arts and City Lights, or Berkeley's Telegraph Avenue bookshops. |
