WRLIT-202

English 2 has two goals: first, to introduce students to the pleasures, issues, and formal strategies of literature and, second, to continue the work begun in English 1 on strengthening students' ability to use language both expressively and analytically. Reading will be drawn from a range of genres, periods, and traditions.

In this course we examine human dilemmas in literature, asking how people struggle with the problems life brings them, from war, poverty, and discrimination to fights with parents or not fitting in. The goals of this course are to help students develop and refine their skills to write vividly, clearly, and effectively and to discuss and analyze culturally diverse literature effectively and originally.
