WRLIT-202
English 2 has two goals: first, to introduce students to the pleasures, issues, and formal strategies of literature and, second, to continue the work begun in English 1 on strengthening students' ability to use language both expressively and analytically. Reading will be drawn from a range of genres, periods, and traditions.
The Secret: reading literature as a means to discovery in our own work. Writing is a way to discover, as well a means to express your ideas. In this class we'll uncover the deeper truths in literature that will speak to our own work and, taken further, our lives. We will develop our writing skills as we read and analyze thought-provoking stories, plays and poems. Throughout the course of the semester we will investigate the connections between the readings and also how it is these different forms link together through common themes and ideas.
