This screenwriting workshop is an introduction to the creative and technical aspects of screenwriting with an emphasis on dramatic and visual writing. Through an analysis of produced scripts, the course examines character development, plot construction (both linear and non-linear), conflict, structure, theme, dialogue, scene work, and script format. Adaptations and documentary are also discussed. In addition to lectures and in-class discussion, each student will produce a detailed story map for a feature-length screenplay and a complete script for a four to ten minute film.
